As a little kid, when someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up it was an easy answer. An astronaut, a baker, or maybe even a princess. Now that I’m getting older, I am thinking more about my future. Graduating from school, getting a job, but not about college. Coming from a family that wants me to succeed in life, college isn’t a choice. I have to go. In my mind, getting to college includes dedication, hard work, and a little help on the way.
I have many goals for my future, too many to name, but my biggest one is graduating from school. Graduating from school to me means that I will be starting a new chapter of my life, I will be growing up. After high school, I want to go to college. Growing up in Nebraska, my dream has always been to go to UNL for college. I plan to go by working hard and getting good grades. Since I’m only thirteen, I haven’t thought a lot about what job I want to do when I grow up, but I would really like to be an astronomer. I have wanted to be an astronomer for about three years. What got me interested in space was when I saw a show on T.V. about the cosmos and space. From then on I have wanted to be an astronomer and have been intrigued by space. Along with trying to get a good job, being in a college sport would be awesome. I don’t know what sport I would try out for, but it would be a major accomplishment for me if I could be on a University of Nebraska sports team.
Education will play a big role in helping me go to college. By going to school it will help me learn the basics of having a job. School will also help me choose what job I would like to do, and by going to school, it will help me get into a college. If I were to drop out of school, I would ruin my dreams and chances of going to college and getting a well paying job. Working hard at school and striving for the best can pay off, especially if I could get a scholarship.
There are many people in my life who inspire me to do great things. First, there are my parents. My parents went to UNL for college and always encourage me to do my best in school, so that is why I want to go to UNL for college. My older cousins also inspire me. They haven’t gone to college yet, they are Juniors in high school. My cousins inspire me because they have done a lot with their lives so far. One of my cousins is really good at basketball and baseball. The other one works really hard all the time and is also good at basketball and baseball, so I look up to them for that. Finally, my teachers are my role models too. My teachers teach me everything I need to know.
When I grow up, instead of being an astronaut or a princess, I would like to be an astronomer. Maybe that could change or maybe it will not. One of my goals is going to college and with help from my education, friends, family, and determination, I can reach my goals.
