Ghost Story

OHS School Ghost

Most kids at OHS come and go. But James was different. After his death, James’ ghost now haunts the school and the gym. James was about my age, 13, when he became a ghost. His hair is brown, he has blurry blue eyes, freckles on his face, and he wears an old basketball uniform. James’ ghost lives in the school and lingers under the bleachers in the gym. When he moves about the halls, most people claim to smell the rubbery smell of a basketball. I don't know James’ last name. No one does.
Nobody knows how James died or why he now haunts the school. He haunts the entire high school, but he seems to prefer the Jr.High hallways. Every night he opens all the lockers and takes out every basketball, sometimes hiding them from the coaches. If you are ever at the school late at night practicing or getting something from your locker, you can sometimes hear a basketball bouncing in the hallway along with some creepy moaning.
People don't see James that often. He doesn't talk to people, and when you happen to see him, he will look at you and then mysteriously disappear. Only a couple of people have talked to him, and I'm not one of them. Whenever I have seen him, he looked like a black shadow of a boy with a basketball.  But as soon as you catch a glimpse of him, he swiftly disappears. James sightings usually occur when the halls are empty and kids are in class.

The legend claims that James’ ghost will leave after he has haunted the school for 100 years. This may be true and it might not be. But as for now, James will remain a mystery and continue to haunt the school, maybe even forever.

Adverb Poem

The Vampire
The Vampire flew sharply
The Vampire flew sharply and radiantly
Flew sharply, radiantly, and scarily
Sharply, radiantly, scarily, and vastly
When he is in the night sky.

Hogwarts Halloween Feast

Hogwarts Halloween Feast

When Harry and Ron entered the Great Hall at Hogwarts, they forgot all about Hermione because of the delicious aromas coming from their house table.  The boys walked to the Gryffindor table, where they were dazzled by the many platters, bowls, and pitchers full of amazing foods and drinks. There was ice cream of every flavor, pumpkin juice, turkey, mashed potatoes, and Harry and Ron’s favorite snack, chocolate frogs!
But before Harry could sit down, a ghost came flying out from underneath his seat. Harry jumped back in amazement and said, “Ahhh!! I didn't know there were ghost here, do you have a name?”  “Yes,” said the ghost, “I am Nearly Headless Nick.”  “Well, nice to meet you,” said both Ron and Harry as they went to go grab pieces of honey glazed ham. As Nick floated away towards the Ravenclaw table, Harry gazed up and not only noticed the gloomy sky but the floating Jack O’ Lanterns as well. While Harry was watching the ceiling, he suddenly became aware that his stomach was growling! So he went back to piling mounds of food on his plate including, ripe vegetables and fruits, pumpkin seeds, ribs, and pumpkin pie. He then filled an enormous glass with Butterbeer,  which was the most amazing sweet and salty drink he had ever tasted.

Just as Harry was about to grab one more slice of pumpkin pie, he felt something lumpy, hot, and slimy dripping down his head. He turned around and saw the Slytherins laughing hysterically at him. Then all of a sudden, there was food flying everywhere!  Someone yelled, “Food Fight!”  There was food flying everywhere and landing on everything! In mid-throw, Harry suddenly heard a loud puff and the food was gone. Dumbledore silenced everything with the swish of his wand and told everyone to get back to eating their food and not throwing it. Seconds before the food disappeared from the table, Hermione stormed in, furious at something.  But Harry and Ron where too scared to ask her what was wrong, thinking that she would yell at them for asking. So they both turned around grabbing one more handful of chocolate frogs before the enormous heaps of food disappeared for the evening.

Nursery Rhyme

"Wee Willie Winkie runs through the town..."

Wee Willie Winkie sprinting around the small town,
Upstairs and downstairs
dressed in his nightgown,
Rapping at the window,
screaming through the lock,
"Are the
small children in their beds, for now it's eight o'clock?"
